A Found Note II

The post-it-note he found in his textbook was weird.

"She has to close, so I'll wait."

What did it mean? Why was it left there, amongst yellow, pink, blue and green highlighting? He didn't know, so he kept on studying. But he didn't stop wondering ...

A Found Note

She stopped and stared at the note on her paper coffee cup.

"Have a good day!"

It was a reminder from a stranger that days were only as bad as she wanted them to be, so she smiled and kept on walking.

Albus

"Albus? Albus, NO!!!"

The little boy dropped the cup. He startled when it shattered on the floor and made a loud noise; he started to cry even before his mother began to scold him, although his volume increased as she dragged him from the shop. As the clerk grabbed a dust pan to clean up, I had to wonder:

Who names their kid Albus?

Legacy

It was nothing to the person who bought it; a weekly treat, perhaps a rare, once-a-year luxury. To those who served it, it was a job, a lifestyle, and (for some) a life. For the people who made all the little parts of what was served, it was a legacy. It was what had been done for years, all finally brought together in the last four decades under a banner of black, green and white. For all, it was good, and all it was, most of the time, was a cup of coffee.

Solving The Puzzle

It was something worth seeing, worth doing. A challenge of body and of mind. It was, without a doubt, rewarding.

Graduation

What was being left behind? They couldn't figure it out. Trepidation, anticipation, fascination; all foreign to them. They hated it, feared it. They didn't want it ... but at the same time, they couldn't think of anything else they'd rather be doing. Stepping forwards, stepping out, leaving their old selves behind.

The New Year

The fireworks boomed, popped, fizzled and sizzled. It was - finally, after so many moments counted down, after so many wishes made - a new year. In a few more hours, it would be a brand new dawn in the much-anticipated brand new year.

I couldn't wait to see it.
